Dance Attack!
This studio focuses on dance for kids, with tap, jazz, ballet and hip-hop.  You would have seen them at the Holiday Ball on Dec. 14, 2001, and at the Spring Fling in April 2002.   They put on quite the performance!  Bud has conducted swing and salsa classes there as well.

Other Fun Stuff
Period Events & Entertainments Re-Creation Society
Period costume events...This group enjoys getting together on a monthly basis to dress up in period clothing and dancing to period music, and generally having a lot of fun.  Dances may be the waltz, polka, mazurka, schottische, and rounds.  Rounds are called out at first to teach them, but are very simple, loads of fun!  The theme for each month is different, and typically includes some type of show or entertainment.

The attire notations above are suggestions.  Costumes are admired, not required to these events.  The locations of these dances vary, so please check out their website or ask us for details.  You can find their website at:
 www.peers.org

Gaskell's Ball
This is another period dancing place, focusing on Victorian period, with corsets, hoop skirts, ruffles & frills.  The costuming here is more firmly suggested, although not required.  Check out their website at www.jps.net/aspsys/gaskell.html

Friday Night Waltz
While our floor was being built, Bud & Deborah FINALLY had an opportunity to visit the hot spot in Palo Alto known as the Friday Night Waltz.  It's on the 2nd floor of the First United Methodist Church.  There were no windows, so it did get quite warm, but the industrial-sized fans helped to keep the dancer's sweat down a notch or two.  We were truly impressed with the music that was offered, coming from all around the world.  The dancers were of all ages, with many young adults.  It seemed that the more varied music really appealed to the younger crowd.  We had a great time & found the organizers to be open, warm & welcoming.  Should we ever get another chance to attend, we'll be there!  We encourage you to check them out.
